Ask me anything
Day 09 - A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
Finnikin of the Rock. I adore Melina Marchetta’s real life teenage angst- coming of age novels, and I was so worried that she wouldn’t be able to translate to a fantasy situation very well. I had to totally eat my words, because I loved this book. It was great, and I bought the sequel the day it came out.
I am really contrary. I am so stubborn that if someone keeps telling me I’ll love something, I’ll dig in my heels and won’t go anywhere near it. I take my own time to get places. I had quite a few people tell me that this was a fantastic book and I should read it, so I dug in my heels and didn’t read it for well over a year. And the thing is, I DID love it. They were right! I just have to come to things in my own time. And it’s not just books. It’s everything. Movies, tv shows, restaurants, coffee places… I’m my own worst enemy! So often the person is right too.
